INSTAGRAM REELS IDEAS FOR INTERIOR DESIGNERS
If you haven't heard, Instagram released a new feature, Reels, back in August of 2020. And it has taken off!!! This new feature is very similar to TikTok and allows users to create short videos. If Instagram is your primary platform for business (it is for so many interior designers because of the visual appeal it has), then you need to start making interior design Reels - and consistently!

Why You Should Be Using Reels
Since its release, users have been getting major visibility using Reels. More visibility means more brand awareness, and more brand awareness means new followers. So, it's definitely not a feature that you want to ignore if you want to gain a following on Instagram - and furthermore bring in more leads. On average, Reels get 22% more engagement than regular video content. What’s more, Instagram CEO Mosseri shared that they are prioritizing video content over photo content in their algorithm because people want to be entertained.
Instagram has invested heavily into the new feature, and it is rewarding those using it. So, if you're an interior designer that wants to take advantage of this feature, but you're not quite sure how to start, you're in the right place.
How To Use The Reels Feature
As with any new feature, there is a bit of a learning curve. However, it does get much easier the more you use it. So, be prepared to stumble around making the first couple, but after you get the hang of it, you'll be cranking out Reels in no time.
What I like about the feature is that you can record and edit your videos right there in the platform. You have the option to create a 15 second or 30 second video - and now even 60 second videos! Reels makes marketing for interior designers easier because you can showcase video or photo footage that you already have.
You are able to add text (which you should!) and music. The music options are pretty limited to those with a business account, but there is a work around for that. THIS video will show you how.

Another option for creating a Reels is by using Canva. Canva will allow you to take still images and create a video format that you can upload. This is nice for those Reels where you need to use regular images instead of video. You can create fun transitions and even animate your photos so that they have movement (which encourages more views).
