Overview:

In this post, we are chatting about how powerful Instagram is for Interior designers! If you are looking for interior design Instagram ideas and tips, you’ve come to the right place. We will cover the benefits of: 1. Reels 2. Stories

3. Hashtags

Instagram is a powerful social media platform for Interior Designers. Because of its visual nature, interior design on Instagram is a perfect place to build your brand awareness, build an online presence, and attract prospective clients. With 71% of US businesses claiming to use Instagram for their business and 200 million+ Instagrammers visiting at least one business profile daily, every interior design business should be on Instagram. But there's more to it than just posting a pretty picture with a one-line caption. Instagram has changed a lot over the years, and in this blog post, you will discover what your interior design company can do to make the most of your Instagram marketing in 2022. Let's get started...

Instagram Reels

If I had only had one piece of advice to share with designers about how to increase their presence on the platform, it would be to post Reels videos!!! They are extremely effective for your interior design marketing.

Instagram Reels are a great way to market your interior design business on Instagram. With video driving engagement on Instagram by 21% more than photos, it’s a no-brainer! They allow you to create short-form videos that get amazing reach and help increase brand awareness. Plus, these videos have a longer shelf-life, meaning that they stay in circulation longer giving you a better chance to get more eyes on your content. What’s more, Reels can get featured on the Explore page, where 50% of Instagram users go to discover content. The home decor Instagram accounts that are thriving on social media right now are the ones that do Reels consistently!

The great thing about Reels is that they are really easy to make. What is also in your favor is that the Instagram algorithm tends to prefer Reels that are shorter, so there is less pressure on you to create super detailed, long interior design reels.

You can use your phone or computer to record them, and you don’t need any special equipment or editing software. Just create a video of yourself talking about your work, show off some of your latest projects, or give tips for designing on a budget. If you want your profile to be one of the top interior designers to follow on Instagram (or to just grow your following or brand awareness), make Reels a priority.

You can add creative filters and effects to help make your videos look professional. These filters and effects are available within the Instagram video editor. Some of my other favorite video editing apps are Canva, InShot, Veed, and Animoto. People will start coming to your profile more for home design inspiration before you know it!

Be sure to read this blog post for Instagram Reels ideas for interior designers. And if you've got a Canva Pro account, then check out the collection of ready-to-go Reels templates here. The slides are preset to music and all you have to do is drop in your gorgeous images!!!

If you’re not already using Instagram Reels, I highly recommend giving them a try! They’re a great way to get more exposure for your business and grow your following.

Instagram Stories

Instagram Stories are another great way to connect with your audience on Instagram. They’re like a mini-blogging platform, where you can share photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours. This type of content is perfect for giving your followers a behind-the-scenes look at your business, sharing quick tips about design, or highlighting your interior design services.

You can also use Stories to drive traffic to your website or blog. Just add a link sticker to your Story, and when people click it they will be taken directly to the page you want them to visit. With 58% of users saying they are more interested in a brand after seeing it in a Story, Stories are non-negotiable if you want your profile to stand out.

Stories are also a great way to increase engagement with your followers. You can ask questions, run polls, and even get feedback from your audience. Stories are where personal conversations begin and you can develop relationships with your audience.

A couple of tips for utilizing Stories successfully:

  1. Post several stories each day. Try to include something that you are working on and something a bit more personal.

  2. Don't worry about overly curating your Stories, they are meant to be casual. Stories are a place for those behind-the-scenes shots that allow people to really get to know you and your business.

  3. Don't go overboard with your Stories. If you add too many Story slides it could overwhelm your audience and then they are more likely to swipe to the next Story.

  4. Save your best Stories to a highlight! This way people will always have access to your Stories. I like to create a Story Highlight for each of my client's projects. That way we can add those Stories to the highlight and it allows the audience to go back and see the project from start to completion.

Hashtags

Hashtags are another way to help get more exposure for your Instagram account. Just like Twitter, Facebook and other social platforms, hashtags on Instagram allow you to connect with people who share the same interests as you AND they make it easier for potential customers to find your interior business.

You want to be strategic about which hashtags you use in order to have the best possible results. For example, if I ran an interior design company that specialized in mid-century modern designs then using #midcenturymodern would not only bring me relevant traffic but also ensure that my posts show up when someone is searching specifically for products from a designer within this niche! And did you know there are over 100 million monthly active users on Instagram looking for interior design inspiration?

Another thing to consider is using branded interior design hashtags. This is a hashtag that you create for your business and it can be as simple as #myinteriordesigncompany or something more specific like #madaboutmidcentury. Branded hashtags are a great way to connect with people who have an interest in your niche, and they make it easy for potential customers to find your account. Branded hashtags can also give you interior design inspiration for your own social content (or see what other hashtags other interior designers on Instagram are using)!

You can also use location tags on your posts. This allows people who are near you (or interested in traveling to where you are) to see your photos and videos. This can, in turn, bring more business or networking your way. According to the BBB, 84% of customers trust local businesses more than larger chain-size businesses, so utilize your location as well to build and garner loyal customers.

As you can see, there are many different ways to market your interior design business on Instagram! By using some or all the features mentioned above, you will notice a significant increase in your activity on your account.
